Career Transition Coaching for Mid-Career Professionals

There are moments in your career when something shifts.

On paper, things may look “good” — but internally, something feels off. You may feel stuck, unfulfilled, or unsure what your next move should be.

You might be:

  • considering a career change but don’t know where to start

  • questioning whether your current role still fits

  • feeling pulled toward something new, but lacking clarity or confidence

  • navigating a transition after burnout, a layoff, or a major life change

Career transitions can feel overwhelming — especially when you’re used to being capable and successful.

This is where coaching can help.

What Career Transition Coaching Helps With

Career transition coaching provides a structured space to step back, gain clarity, and move forward with intention.

Together, we may focus on:

  • Clarifying what you want next (and what you don’t)

  • Identifying strengths, values, and patterns shaping your career decisions

  • Exploring aligned roles, industries, or paths

  • Building confidence to make and act on decisions

  • Creating a clear, practical plan for your next step

  • Navigating the emotional side of change (uncertainty, fear, identity shifts)

This isn’t about rushing into a decision — it’s about making the right decision for you.

My Approach

My approach to career transition coaching is both reflective and practical.

We’ll take time to understand:

  • what’s driving your desire for change

  • what’s felt energizing vs. draining in your work

  • what success means to you now (which may be different than before)

From there, we’ll move into action:

  • testing ideas

  • identifying opportunities

  • building momentum in a way that feels manageable

I bring experience from working with professionals across industries, including tech, consulting, finance, healthcare, and more — as well as a background in recruitment and leadership development.

CAREER TRANSITION COACHING — FAQs

What does a career transition coach do?

A career transition coach helps you step back and gain clarity on what you want next in your career, assessing your strengths, interests, personality, and other important aspects to consider to support you in taking practical steps toward that. This can include exploring new directions, identifying strengths, building confidence, and creating a plan for change.

How do I know if I need career transition coaching?

You might benefit from career transition coaching if you feel stuck, unfulfilled, or unsure what your next move should be — even if things look “fine” on paper. Many clients come to coaching when they’re considering a change but don’t yet have clarity or confidence in their direction. A coach can be a helpful collaborator with an objective point of view, and someone who has expertise in the steps needed to make a transition. A coach can also notice things that may be getting in the way and support you with taking steps forward.

Can coaching help me figure out what career is right for me?

Yes — a core part of this work is helping you understand your strengths, values, personality, environment and or culture that may best suit your desired state, and identify patterns so you can make more aligned decisions. Rather than being told what to do, you’ll build clarity through structured reflection and exploration.

Will you help with resumes and job search strategy?

If relevant, we can absolutely incorporate practical elements like resumes, networking, and job search strategy. That said, the primary focus is on clarity, direction, and decision-making — so that any actions you take are aligned and intentional.

How long does career transition coaching typically take?

It depends on your goals, but many clients start with a short engagement (e.g., 4–6 sessions) to build clarity and momentum. Some choose to continue longer for ongoing support as they navigate change.

What if I’m not ready to make a big change yet?

That’s completely okay. Coaching isn’t about forcing a decision — it’s about helping you understand your options and move forward at a pace that feels right for you.

Curious whether Coaching could help?

Most clients start with a short conversation to talk through what they’re navigating in their career or leadership path and explore whether coaching might be helpful.

In this conversation we might:

• talk about what’s currently feeling challenging or uncertain
• explore what you’re hoping might shift or evolve
• see whether coaching could support you in this next step

If you're not sure whether coaching is the right fit, this conversation is simply an opportunity to explore what you're navigating and see if it would be helpful.
